Please join us in welcoming Lexi Passno, our new Program Intern!
Lexi is a third-year undergraduate at the University of Iowa from Sherrard, Illinois. She is double majoring in Ethics and Public Policy and Political Science with a minor in Criminology, Law, and Justice. Her interest in cultural exchange began in high school.
“My high school had a similar program for exchange students that are visiting and cultural events. I really enjoyed that, so getting to do that on a much bigger scale is really nice,” said Lexi.
Lexi also interns at the Iowa City Foreign Relations Council (ICFRC), which was where her interest in programming and non-profits began. Outside ICFRC and Global Ties Iowa, Lexi is involved with Ignite UI and is an On Iowa! orientation leader. She enjoys traveling and says that the Lucaya National Park in the Bahamas has been her favorite travel destination.
“I am graduating this fall so I'm kind of hoping to see where I want to go with my career. I think this [internship] is something that interests me so it's nice to see if it's [a path] I want to follow. Otherwise, I enjoy what Global Ties Iowa does so I’m glad I can be a part of that,” she said.
Lexi will be interning with us through the summer, and she is already hard at work programming for our upcoming delegations from Kyrgyzstan and Moldova. We are so ecstatic to have Lexi on our team!
